Teams and Captains.
As a ref I am somewhat becoming frustrated at the fact that I cannot ref a game to my full potential and feel that I am not enabling a game to play without issues. As a ref I am finding it difficult to ref games without some form of support from goal judges or assistance with offside rules.
Due to the game being fast paced and at times adrenaline levels are high and can fog the judgement as ref it is knee high impossible to see every decision in the correct manner that it should be. This of which I believe fully is hindering the game and causing friction between the players and the ref. I myself hold my hands up and being human have missed issues or read them incorrectly. Remember I am self taught by simply ploughing through the ISBHF rules myself.
So therefore I feel that it would be in the clubs best interest to have other designated refs to ref games so long as they have read and fully understand the rules of the ISBHF, of which can be downloaded here on the site. Ref's need to be fully understanding of the rules and regulations.
During games we also MUST HAVE goal line judges and one option could be that teams are docked points for not providing goal judges on games they are not playing. This way it would ensure players turn up for games to help out. It would go a long way to helping to get rid of the unnecessary confrontations between ref and players. That 'high eyes' support is crucial.
I am going to continue as Junior ref but feel until I am confident fully to handle the adult game then I feel taking a step back is the only option. It is a very stressful job and does leave you mentally jaded after games.
Happy to hear thoughts on proposals and I would not doubt that there are other ideas out there that players may come up with as I am not the fountain of all knowledge.

Tonight's game was an awesome game, very fast and very furious at times. Players on both teams were so passionate and you could see this by the way they were playing, which in my view made it a hard game for anyone to ref.
I really think there should be an extra bod at each end watching the goal ends and also one in the middle watching offside movements. Until then there's always going to be arguments from players from both sides as your limited to what one person can see.
We all know refs make mistakes (like giving a goal against the Cavs in the last game when we all know it didn't go in :-)
We've (me, my 9yr old and my wife :-) ) been doing the scoring for the past few games and even thats not as easy as i think people think especially when like tonight and the other night the score board does its own thing.
Would love to see some other guys come and help out with the scoring!!
One thing to improve it would be comms to teh floor from the top!
