Let the Adventure Begin!
It may be off-season but the work and development never ends! Falklands Xtreme Adventures our business arm of Falklands Xtreme Sports is now in its infancy stage with business plan and works underway in refurbishing the site of the new adventure park. Despite a small break in we are still on course. It appears not even old run down buildings are safe anymore!
If you have any old pallets, chicken wire, tyres or anything you think that we could utilise as bunkers and objects we would greatly appreciate them. Old vehicle parts would be excellent as we could then utilise these to represent military vehicles to give the site some life. Camouflage netting is also a must so if for some reason you have some and not using it then we will gladly take it off you hands.
Our ball hockey 2017-18 season is getting sorted as we speak with shirts being developed for the youth teams who all now have sponsors, which is fantastic news. Teams will be as follows:
Goose Green Cavaliers sponsored by FIC
Port Howard Patriots sponsored by SATLAN
Walker Creek Warriors sponsored by Saddle Direct
Camilla Creek Crusaders sponsored by Templars Medical
Spring Point Spartans sponsored by Falklands Xtreme Adventures
Fitzroy Foxes sponsored by the Fitzroy Social Club
We are currently raising extra funds to obtain youth goaltender equipment and sticks as well as helmets as these will be required. However we are informing parents that they can purchase their own and we are more than happy enough to source them for you. Forms will be out in the next few days to all our youth players in the Infant and Junior School, who I have heard are chomping at the bit to play in the Youth Morrison Xtreme League. I must admit I for one am really quite looking forward to stepping into this new chapter of the clubs early life. 1 year people, we are 1 year old! Its amazing what has been achieved in 1 year.
As noted above special mention to new sponsors Templars Medical and Fitzroy Social Club who without we would not have had shirts for 2 teams so this is excellent news.
Our Quality of Life application to bring two Canadian ball hockey coaches Gary Slavin and Dave Welloy to the Islands has gone to The Shackleton Scholarship Fund who have informed us that a decision will be made at the end of May. Fingers and toes crossed that our bid is a successful one. With Gary and Dave's help it would propel the ball hockey development into a higher gear and will benefit all players. They will also hope to run a coaching course for our selected youth hockey coaches.
We are recruiting now for youth players and adult players so if you are interested in joining up then contact us via Facebook or email: firstname.lastname@example.org. We are currently looking for a new goaltender for one of the adult teams so if you think you have what it takes or want to try something new then get in touch. We are also always looking for new adult outfield players to expand the current roster of players.
For all 2016-17 players we are currently sourcing trophies and will get them ordered to be here in time for our award ceremony in July. Invitations will be out well in advance for this night as we want to ensure a good turnout to celebrate the sports first and very successful year.
Discussion are underway with the Leisure Centre in relation to the Bristow Hangar that is now going to be utilised as a sports hall for extra sports and will also include a rink that is going to be designed for hockey in mind. This is excellent news as it will provide ball hockey with a facility that replicates venues overseas, albeit not at the same length and width, but an improvement none the less. This may mean our 2017-18 season fixtures may change but on the plus side will mean that we can potentially offer more times to both adults and youth. It may also mean that we can obtain better times during the week. We will keep you all posted on developments.
Rome wasn't built in a day so please be patient in relation to all our new adventures (pun intended), the wait will be totally worth it. On that note I must get my geek on and continue the Stargate SG-1 viewing....now if only I had a Stargate!
