WE finally got our order of LAGA sports designed shirts and they are amazing. Its great to finally see all the players wearing matching team jerseys and changes the whole perspective of the game now. There has already been interest from fans who would like there very own shirt. We are looking at placing an order with LAGA sports so if you want one then get hold of email@example.com for further details and we will try and accommodate. Massive thank you to our sponsors for making this possible, Falklands Islands Company, Saddle Direct, South Atlantic Trading, Terry's UPVC Doors and Windows and not forgetting SAAS for sponsoring the goals. Without your support none of this would be possible. And lets not forget our very own photographer Petra Gilding (who sporting a very new logo) was kind enough to sponsor our photo shoot with our players and sponsors for the handing over of shirts.
The Morrison Xtreme League is in full swing with Hill Cove Hurricanes (sponsored by Terry's UPVC Doors and Windows) ahead with a 10 point lead. So far they are unbeaten and have laid down a challenge to all teams that they are prepared to go all the way without losing. Its looking possible but then hockey is a funny old game and anything can happen :)
We are in the process of providing live updates for our international followers and will trial this with tweets via twitter at first and then hopefully move to something much more user friendly. As we understand that there is not just a local following for our hockey but also one far and wide which is fantastic news. We hope we can replicate what other countries have done and look to have our very own championships set up and recognised via the ISBHF. The 1st Asian championships is a prime example of what you can achieve with the right approach and commitment. We may be a small nation but we punch well above our weight and me, well, I don't believe in the word can't, where there is a will there is always a way.
Don't forget to tune into our local radio station on Monday (midday) to hear our latest interview about Falklands Xtreme Sports, what we have achieved so far, where we want to go and how we are going to get there. FITV have also done a small segment on our peewee and junior players via our IJS affiliation and should be on in the next few days. This programme has blossomed and is fantastic to see so many happy smiley little faces playing the sport.
The after school club is only in its infancy (no pun intended there) but with support from the IJS and fundraising from our end there will be equipment soon to be winging its way to the Islands for them all to enjoy. As one wise man always told me "from acorns great oak trees grow" so expect to see massive developments in our youth setup in the near future. And don't forget if you want to get involved and help sponsor our youths then please get into contact via the email above.
Don't forget the Raft Race on News Years Day and check out our dedicated page here on our website which holds all the information in relation to rules and registration. Plans are afoot to make this a cracking day for one and all.
Next year more plans, more work, more sports. Lacrosse and Field Hockey are two such sports we are looking to introduce, if you are not sure what Lacrosse is then if you are a Teen Wolf fan its in there, if not check it out as the programme is a damn good watch :)
