Blink and you will miss it!
Since day one Falklands Xtreme Sports has been working hard to obtain sponsorship and assistance from near and far. Members have increased drastically with the club boasting 22 senior players interested in participating in the ball hockey being offered and this number does not seem to be slowing up! Sponsors are currently being met and exchanges are in place with the targets and goals of Falklands Xtreme Sports being provided and ISBHF membership having being sorted and the president George Gortsos getting into contact with us. Things are moving at an incredible rate!
A few weeks ago an email was sent to the Pittsburgh Penguins stating our plight and requesting their help to train and coach players either via current players and coaches or legends such as Mario Lemieux. No reply had been sent for some time and in all honesty I didn't really think that the email we sent would even be entertained, let alone receive a reply! But a reply we got and not just a normal run of the mill response to such requests but an email stating that it has been forwarded on to the liaison for the Pens with them potentially getting back into contact with us for further information. The Pens are currently locked in a Stanley Cup playoffs so understandable that things will be delayed (of which I am currently listening to with the Pens up 2-0 :)) So we wait and wait we shall with the possible excitement that we may just get the support from a well renowned NHL team with legendary status. If nothing further comes of this then it is not for us to be downbeat but to feel happy that our plight has been noted and supported by an NHL team.
Since Falklands Xtreme Sports started just over a week ago it has grown drastically and at an amazing rate and if you are not careful you might just blink and miss the lot!
